Many of the children attending the German Saturday school grow up in a bilingual family where German is one of the spoken languages

Basic knowledge in German, even only passive knowledge, is essential for the children to take part in the lessons and enjoy their time at school.

However the background of a pupil can vary:

• The children may have a good understanding of German, but their oral and written performance needs to be improved
• The children may have lived in a German-speaking country and have come to live in England and want to keep their German language skills.
